According to market and research consulting firm Strategy Analytics, Tablets running Android operating system gained 10% market share to a total of 39% of the whole Tablet market – gaining ground on iPad which now has a 58% share.

Mobile Gaining Ground On Desktops and Laptops

One of the most interesting statistic from the findings published is that the Tablet computer market grew 260 percent last year to 66.9 million units.

Beyond just the massive increase in Tablets sold, was where the growth came from.

A lot of the reason for the dramatic increase in Tablet sales was attributed to many consumers “increasingly buying tablets in preference to netbooks and even entry-level notebooks or desktops.”
